Creating dramatic window treatments are extremely easy. With a bit of imagination and creativity, you can make your very own curtains with draped heading and no pleats. If you have a curved window frame, it is best to install a particular curtain that would preserve the arch and accentuate it beautifully.
What you will need to undertake this window treatment project are drapery holdbacks, Dupioni silk fabric and heavy tassel fringe trim. Assuming that your window is 11’ high and 6’ wide with 3’ wall space on the side, you will need two lined and interlined Dupioni silk panels that’s 44” wide. Sew on the tassel fringe on the curtain’s side. This trim will complement the panel beautiful and also adds texture to the entire curtain. When mounting your dramatic silk curtains, you need to install 4 drapery holdbacks per side and panel. Space them about 8” apart on center. Pin 4 N-shaped curtain hooks on the heading and space them about 20” apart to achieve proper drops.
When making your very own dramatic curtains, it is important to remember that you need to sew the heading fringe and pin the N-shaped curtain hooks on the wrong side. This will ensure that the fringe will face the right side when mounted.
